National Signing Day

Wednesday is the day the most sought after 18 year olds in the world sign their letters of intent. It brings to an end their 18 month odyssey of courtship by coaches whose jobs depend on their future performance. Truthfully, it is bittersweet to see it end but then again, spring practice starts really soon. Let us know what you think about Signing Day and its surprises.

Jessica is taking Auburntini orders as it is almost as good as gameday.

Shakes- I hear you recorded some beautiful tunes last night. I can't wait to come down and join in the fun. I've been practicing!

I will vouch for it. The recording sounds good. Nation, your brother's getting pretty good at the geetar.

I know most of you are too cool for American Idol, but did anyone watch it last night. I know yall have heard of Taylor Hicks (He plays in Auburn all the time). He was on last night. If you havnt seen him, he has grey hair and looks like he is 40. He sounds good though, kinda like an old black man. He sang "Its been a long time coming" and "Way down on the Swanee River", and when he sings he squirms around like ray charles or joe cocker.

Yea, It was fun. It sounded pretty good for the most part. The beautiful part is that we can go back and re-do anything we don`t like. I can`t wait until the 3 of us can play. I will see if I can email the 3 songs we recorded.

1)Jealous Again
2)The Weight
3) Wiser Time- Chorus sounds like shit...thanks to seth

AU pulls 7 of the B-ham top 12. Guess thats another W for the Tigers in the State.

Andre to Bama

tigernation said...

I read that he pulled a Houndstooth hat out. Somebody needs to tell that dumbass that Sheila is the coach and that the Bahr was dead before Andre was born.

He will be a good one. I bet he walks in and starts next year.

Dr.Feelgood said...

read where Shula has the top O-line class in the nation with andre

The houndstooth hat, that gives the "feeling" shakes kept talking about.

tigernation said...

Nope. Bama has the #4 OL class per Scout.com and the #2 class per rivals.

CEO of rivals graduated from Bama.

Jamie Newberg of Scout.com went to UGA and lives here in ATL.

Notice how these facts skew the rankings of each team on each site......Interesting. There is a reason UGA is 4 on Scout and 8 on rivals. Also explains why Bama is about 10 spots higher in the rankings on rivals. Doesn't really matter, just kind of funny. You would think these guys could be somewhat objective.

Goggans dropped from 4 to 3 stars on Scout once he committed to AU.

P.S. AU has the #2 DL class in the nation per Scout.com. That should be a good matchup between the OL for Bama and the DL for Auburn in the next couple of years.

tigernation said...

UGA now 4 on both. AU is 9 on Scout and 10 on Rivals. Bama is 11 on rivals and 19 on Scout.

This will change a little before the end of the day but it looks like the SEC came strong with it this year.

You heard it from the Nation first.

Gibbs back to the NFL by the end of the week. He will wait a day or two until recruiting is complete but he is as good as gone.

No big deal in my opinion, too soft in the secondary and not enough pass rush. He also has never taught anyone to tackle.

Dr.Feelgood said...

Who is in line to replace Gibbs??

Could be interesting.

First choice so far is Muschamp from the Dolphins. He was at AU once before so that would be a good fit. I would love to get him. He was the DC for the LSU NC run in 03.

Some are saying they want Joe Whitt to get it but I'm not sure that would be real good. He has been at AU for 25 years as the LB coach and has never been considered before. He might not even want the job.

Daddy said...

I am glad gibbs is gone. It doesn't take long to determine if your DC is good or not. Gibbs is not!
Screw whitt. Auburn needs a little shaking up after Gibbs.

tigernation said...

Sorry, I don't think Muschamp was ever at AU before. He did play at UGA but for some reason I thought he had coached at AU at one point. Anyway, I would love to have him at Auburn. He blitzes every freaking down. Just think back to that LSU defense in '03.

Still a rumor about Gibbs but it may very well be true.

Miami has just hired a new DC so Muschamp may leave after all.

Ok I got the scoop from the horse's mouth.

Just listened to Tubby's press conference and he commented on Gibbs.

Gibbs has 6 or 7 offers form NFL teams to be a deensive assistant. He spoke with Tubbs and doesn't know if college or the NFL is right for him.

He will interview this week with a number of teams and go from there.

Personally I would like to see him go back to the NFL IF and that is a big IF Auburn can get Will Muschamp. I'm sure Tubbs has someone in mind if Gibbs decides to leave.

Just have to wait and see.

Tubs has his list ready. He has been thinking about this move for a month.

I must say that I am very impressed with both Alabama and Auburn's recruiting classes. Andre Smith and Mr. Mississippi topped Bama off as Miller, Isom, and Goggans did the same for the Tigers. Both have legitimate Top 15 classes along with UGa and LSU. The rich get richer and Auburn would have the best class if it seals the deal on a DC that wants to be at Auburn.

The trenches in the next few Iron Bowls will be awesome!!!

Dr.Feelgood said...

Nice finish for both today

For what it is worth, Auburn is ranked ahead of Alabama on rivals, scout, espn and sports illustrated. Burn!

For those of you who do not have a subscribtion to Scout.com I have put an article about Gibbs and his plans up for you.

"Gibbs Sets the Recort Straight"

Auburn, Ala.--One year ago on signing day was when Auburn fans first learned the David Gibbs was going to be Auburn’s new defensive coordinator. Signing day again brought news on Gibbs as this time he may be leaving to return to the NFL. He says that at the moment he’s still an Auburn Tiger, but that he has been contacted about several jobs and will look at them in the coming days.
”I have been fortunate enough to have some people call me and ask questions and see if I would be interested,” Gibbs says. “Right now I haven’t made any decisions. I’m going to look into some opportunities and if and when there is an offer I’ll make a decision when that happens. I’ve got people calling me everyday for my job. It’s amazing. I thought I was still at Auburn. The internet is a powerful tool, which we all know. We’ll see.

”Coach Tubs (Tommy Tuberville) has been great,” he adds. “I’m an Auburn guy. I grew up here and I love Auburn. As a football coach you have to look to take care of yourself and your family. If I do stay in college football it will be at Auburn. That’s about it.”

Despite his name being mentioned with jobs at Houston and several other NFL teams, Gibbs says at the moment he doesn’t have any firm offers to join a team next season. Instead he says he’ll talk to some teams and if he gets an offer they’ll cross that bridge when they come to it.

“I read on the internet where people are offering me jobs at place where I’ve never heard of the coaches,” Gibbs says. “I’ve never met them before in my life. It really doesn’t matter. If and when it becomes a situation Coach Tuberville and I will sit down and talk about it and we’ll go from there.

”By no means do I want to hurt Auburn. Right now I’m planning on being at Auburn unless something happens. The good thing about the NFL is that they don’t wait around a whole lot or a very long period of time. Things will happen quick and we’ll go from there.”

With Gibbs on the road talking with several NFL teams the Tigers will be busy getting ready for spring football which begins Feb. 28. Because of that the first-year coach says that no matter what he does it will be done quick so Auburn won’t be put in a bind by his actions.

“If I am going to leave it has to happen quick so they can get somebody else in here quick to get ready for spring football, which as you all know starts quick” Gibbs says. “If it happens it’s going to happen quick one way or another and we’ll move on with it.

“I love coaching in college and I love Auburn,” he adds. “Heck if you got an opportunity to look around and people were throwing a whole bunch of money at you then you’re probably going to listen too. We’ll see what happens. Right now I’m an Auburn Tiger. If that changes myself or Coach Tuberville or Kirk (Sampson) will be the first one to let you know.”

Wilbanks, I thought that the rivals guy went to uga and the scout guy bama. At least that is what you told me when uga was 1 in the rankings on rivals. please clarify. Gracias. Also, congrats to you auburn kids on hawthorne and on stealing one from UT at the last minute. Lastly, hate to say it but i thought the houndstooth hat was a nice touch regardless of the amount of estrogen coaching in t town.
peace

It would be a nice touch if:
1)Bear was still the coach.
2)Bear was alive!
3)Bear wasnt a cheater.
