Summer is here

3 months til football. Mark Howard of the AJC is already predicting a ho hum Georgia season made by a victory over Auburn.

Barbaro's leg after surgery. Kinda looks like Wilber's knees.

I hope all had a nice Memorial weekend. Lake Chatuge was a nice place. Water was clean. The boat stopped working. Got towed back in my a good ol boy wearing a Kasey Kahne hat.

Kasey Kahne wins the 600. Roaring Wilberos edging out $hakes for Fantasy NASCAR supremecy.

Nice finish in the Indy 500.

Braves sweep Cubs.

Thanks for joining, Nikki.

Ladies, have a good week. I am off to Gulf Shores with Mom and the sister before starting back to work hustling DHL.

Yeah, that's about 2 years old there Wilbur, but thanks.

And it's Mark Bradley from AJC....not Mark Howard, and he has no idea what he is talking about.

My UGA buddies made a point to tell me that if Irons gets hurt that we will have no running game and the season will be over....ok, we'll see........Will Brad Lester and Ben Tate please stand up?

Spent Saturday at "Cocktail Cove" on a 37 foot yacht......ladies everywhere...along with Newman and Jay RussRuss. Crazy day.

So crazy in fact, that I have been sick as a dog for 3 days. This is after I backed over a tow rope in the boat and had to wind it out while treading water in the middle of a crowded Lake Lanier. LOOOOOng weekend on the lake, 2 days too many.

Well, well well. I guess you turds missed me a little huh? I have just returned to work after a long beautiful weekend in Gulf Shores. Water was gorgeous, food was great (cooked 10 lbs of Crab legs on Sunday) , weather was awesome, but my sunburn hurts like HELL. I pulled my hair back in a pony tail (and yes my hair is long enough to pull back. Not a long pony, but for sure a Johnny Travolta from Pulp Fiction), to try and get some sun on my pale forehead. I just got a little too much sun on that spot all the way to my hairline. It hurts to even brush. So I said fuck it around 9am this morning and went and cut my hair because of the pain. It is shorter, thinner, and doesn`t hurt to comb. Feelin Alright!

How was everyone else`s weekend?

Mark Bradley is just telling the UGA fans what they want to hear, so they don`t kick his ass in public. UGA will be lucky to hold off UT for 2nd in the SEC East.

Well Fellas, sorry for my brief absence from the blog.

Stayed at the bosses house n Southwind this weekend, hungout by the pool and watched a little of the golf tourney.

Played in one yesterday, first place in 2nd flight. I am now 2 for 2. Just shows that you can be good by associating with the right people.

Needless to say the weekend was long, and my stomach is kicking my ass for it today

Daddy said...

My memorial day weekend has spilled into today, since I have no school and no work. The weekend was relaxing, did not do too much, just played with the dog, sunned in the pool, and cooked out a couple of times.

Who is Jay russ getting married to?

tigernation said...

He's already married to a girl named Kate Strickland from his high school.

They didn't date in high school and only dated for about a year before the engagement and then they eloped to Key West.

So we are playing the reception on July 8 at the CCC......Shakes, any news on wheter or not you will be able to make it? It will be a CRAZY party.

shakeyour$maker said...

Looks like Shakes will be able to attend the reception for the big "Russ Russ." As long as there are no emergencies....I should be able to make it. Song list needs to grow some...I`m thinking old school for the wedding reception...stuff everyone likes....Van the Man, Rod Stewart, Etc....

Daddy- Did they cancel school today? You lucky bastard. So yall just chilled the whole weekend?

Dr.- Congrats on the 2nd win on the golf course. All those lessons I gave you at Oxford Lake Par 3 are paying off.

Kingom- There is a lot of NASCAR season left. My boy Jimmy J is gonna win the championship....I would love to see Jr or T. Stewart win it though.

Daddy said...

No it didnt get cancelled, I just dont have school on Tues and thurs, and no work on Tues. We didnt do much just hung around. Jay and Hailey came over, but that was about it. How was the beach?

Daddy said...

Dr.,

Have you heard any of the new pearl jam?

tigernation said...

Talked to the bride about some songs and she had some suggestions:

Mississippi Queen (Mountain), I guess because she lives in MS now.

Listen to the music (Doobies), we should be able to remember this one

Van the man, Doobies, and others sound good to me.

What about-Mama told Me not to Come, Gimme the Beat Boys, Jackson 5, and some of the others that we did at the Phi Mu graduation party?

Daddy said...

Just tried to go out to Keisel Park with the dog. Only made it about 30 minutes, too fuckin hot. It is supposed to get up to 95 today. Its gonna be a long, hot, sticky, nasty summer.

Daddy said...

There are probably a few Eagle's songs yall need to do also.

tigernation said...

Yeah, we should probably look into some Eagles.

Shakes, y'all should come up on the fri before if possible and we can get some practice and maybe even some lake time in.

I have a guest room at the house with a queen bed so y'all can stay for the free.

Dr.Feelgood said...

Eagles would be good, let shakes sing Last Resort, slow things down, great dancing music.

No Daddy I haven't heard but like two songs off the new Pearl Jam album. Is it any good??

Dr.Feelgood said...

how about a little Seger??

Daddy said...

Dr., I was wondering the same thing. I have only heard two songs. The album is getting good reviews though.

tigernation said...

As long as Shakes can do his "lounge singer" act we will be fine.

shakeyour$maker said...

"The Lounge Singer" act will be in full effect that night.

tigernation said...

I think we need to get you a maroon leisure suit and a bow tie.

I can't wait. Jay's mom did ask if we could play anything to dance to. So we need to work up some goodies.

shakeyour$maker said...

Some Elivs would not be hard...Charles and I played a couple last time we played at Quixote`s.

Maybe some Beatles..."Ballad of John and Yoko" and "Little Help from my Friends"..We could try Joe Cocker "Space Captain" but it could be too hard without a piano....Bob Dylan..."The Man in Me"... Little Feat "Dixie Chicken" (Maybe too hard without piano again)...We played "back where it all begins" at Quixote`s too....We could do that into "Franklin`s Tower."

Charles knows a helluva lot more songs that I didn`t know he could play until he busted them out on stage. He even played Keitha`s songs from the Peerless....all those Neil Young tunes.

HELTER SKELTER...You may be a lover...but you aint no dancer!

shakeyour$maker said...

Some Neil Diamond would be awesome.....

"I wrote this song on the back of a Dixie cup... on the road between Little Rock and Omaha, right after I got finished having sex with a 13 year old Asian prostitute named Caroline."

Daddy said...

For the dancing, Earth Wind and Fire and the Commodores are a must.
You could always throw in a little Marvin Gaye, or the Temptations for good measure.

Daddy said...

I also agree with the Neil Diamond.

Daddy said...

Anyone seen the Davinci Code yet?

shakeyour$maker said...

I was also thinking about some "Stuck in the Middle with you" by the Stealer`s Wheel...and "Hey, Hey, What can I do?" by Led Zep Zep. I think both of these would be easy to play (or learn very quickly!) What cha think?

shakeyour$maker said...

No, I haven`t seen it yet...Have you Daddy?

Dr.Feelgood said...

Heard it is not very good. Heard if you read the book, alot of stuff is missing, and if you haven't read the book, it is hard to follow

Daddy said...

No, I havnt seen it yet. I have heard lots of different things. It is not getting great reviews, but most people I have talked to said it was good, just not as good as the book.

Daddy said...

Stuck in the middle is good. You cant go wrong with zeppelin either. There are a bunch of zep songs yall could do.

Daddy said...

There are quite a few Rolling Stone Songs yall could do too.

shakeyour$maker said...

Yes there are Daddy. The stones would be very fun...and most songs should be easy to play.

Dr.--How is the life in Memphis? You doin alright? When do you move out of the sweet ass crib?

Daddy- You at school now?

Daddy said...

I dont have to be at school till 12:30.

shakeyour$maker said...

Cool...I am about to be out and about, so if you don`t mind...I may stop by in about 30-45 minutes. Is that cool?

Daddy said...

Yeah, I will be here.

shakeyour$maker said...

Cool...see you soon!

Dr.Feelgood said...

Life is great in Memphis, just feel like I have been crazy busy lately, hence the spotty blog action.

Crib has not sold yet, so not quite sure on move out date. Probably moving out at end of July.

Most likely staying downtown in an Apt. above Flying saucer/swig corner of peabody and second.

Got Joe's batchelor party this weekend, so that should be interesting

Dr.Feelgood said...

Alright ladies, going to meet someone and then lunch, be on this afternoon

Daddy said...

Daddy is here.

Camp war eagle is going on, so all of the counselors are at that and I am here at the office by myself all afternoon, bored as a mofo.

Daddy said...

So the the pearl jam is good?

Daddy said...

I heard it was reminicent of vs.

Dr.Feelgood said...

Yeah its awesome, and vs. is probably a good album comparison, yield would probably be second pick for sounds like

Dr.Feelgood said...

they rock it out in a couple of songs like old times.

None of that dark sounding bullshit from binaural and riot act

Daddy said...

good, I guess i am going to have to go pick it up.

Dr.Feelgood said...

I suggest it.

you in class all summer?

Daddy said...

Yeah, I have one joke class, and my senior design class and then I will be done.

Dr.Feelgood said...

for good??

Daddy said...

Yep. Thank God! its about time.

Dr.Feelgood said...

You going home any this month??

I will be there next weekend and the weekend after fathers day for weddings, you should get back one of those weekends

Daddy said...

I will try to. I have got a couple of weddings to go to as well in the next month, but I am going to try to make it back soon, it has been a while since I have been home.

FSU clip from the 10spot on SI.com

Two former Florida State football players have been charged with stealing $1,700 worth of electronic equipment from the home of a current player. Wow, the proud Seminoles program is really falling on hard times. Past FSU studs would have demonstrated more elusiveness

Dr.Feelgood said...

Only did 3 SEC teams in his article on post spring teams. Here is what Mandel wrote:

Encouraged: Alabama. New QB John Parker Wilson acquitted himself well in scrimmages, receiver D.J. Hall, who was suspended for the Cotton Bowl, is shaping up to be a Tyrone Prothro-type playmaker (Prothro, who broke his leg last season and attended 'Bama's A-Day festivities on crutches, is doubtful to return this season), and the O-line, a weak spot last year, showed improvement. Whether the young defense can approach last year's dominance is another story.

Discouraged: Tennessee. New but familiar coordinator David Cutcliffe may eventually work wonders with the Vols' beleaguered offense. For much of the spring the unit looked closer to 5-6 (Tennessee's disappointing record last season) than 10-3 (the year before). Then again, QB Erik Ainge hasn't had that long to work with Cutcliffe, and several key running backs sat out spring recovering from surgeries

Discouraged: Florida. Much-heralded QB Tim Tebow also lived up to billing, going 15 of 21 for 197 yards in the Gators' spring game. Unfortunately he's not the starter yet. Coach Urban Meyer's teams exploded in his second seasons at Bowling Green and Utah, but this one, with stationary QB Chris Leak and a mediocre running game, may be more like his first one in Gainesville -- an up-and-down year.

shakeyour$maker said...

Sounds like Mandel is a little confused.....DJ Hall is no Tyrone Prothro. O-line shows improvement from last year???? OK, that`s cool...instead of giving up 11 sacks in a game...they will only give up 6. Great Improvement!!! The D will be nowhere close to where they were last year....especially with a criminal as the leader.

Discouraged: Florida??? WTF? Questioning the play of Chris Leak.......if he doesn`t play well right off the bat, he will sit and watch from the sidelines. Tim Tebow will be on the field in no time...if and only if Leak can`t get the job done. I think they will be good..but not great. I look for them to win 9 or 10 this season.

tigernation said...

I hear ya Shakes. Got any song ideas for the RussReception?

Going to the Crowes in B-Ham in June? I think I may try to get some tickets.

shakeyour$maker said...

Nation-- Look above to find all the songs I have suggested.

"Ballad of John and Yoko"
"Stuck in the middle with You"
"Never been to Spain" (Easy)
"Midnight Special"
"Mama told me Not to Come"
" Old Friends" -Allmans
"The Man in Me"
"And it Stoned Me"

shakeyour$maker said...

Nation--I don`t know if I will be able to make it up there (B`ham). It`s during the week, right?

tigernation said...

Yep on a Wednesday.

Those look like some great picks. I really like all of them.

Never Been to Spain will be a hit for sure.

Daddy said...

Saw Da Vinci Code last night. It was a little different than the book and of course not as good, but I still thought it was good and very entertaining.

Daddy said...

"In Oklahoma not Arizona, What does it matter"

tigernation said...

"But I kind of like the music"................my buddy Jerome will be loving this song if we do it.

Chuck D, me, and old Kim just got ticks to the Crowes in bham. Seats and everything.....35 bucks a pop. Gonna get fffff'd up that night.

You guys should try to make it.

tigernation said...

Ever wonder what the Auburn fight song would look like translated into German?!?!?!

Here you go:

"Krieg. ...Eagle Fliege das Feld
hinunter Je, Nie zu erobern,
Krieg. ...Eagle furchtlosen und wahren
Kampf auf Ihnen Apfelsine Zu Ergeben, und blau
Geht! Gehen Sie! Gehen Sie!
Auf zu Siegstreik auf das Band
Gibt ihnen Hölle, gibt ihnen Hölle
Gestell auf und Aufschrei, He!
Krieg. ...Eagle Sieg für Kastanienbraune
Kraft von Dixieland!"

Daddy said...

I have a ticket if I want it from mr. j papa flann, but I dont know if I can swing a wednesday night. Is the bham show the June 28?

Daddy said...

Where the hell did you find that nation?

tigernation said...

June 28 yes, and you know you want to go......

I found that on autigers.com...some dude put it up on the message board.

Y'all can go look at just about everything I look at. Go to autigers.com, go to message boards, and click on the AU football board...the free one. Lots of goodies

Dr.Feelgood said...

Shakes your an idiot. The offensive line gave up like 37 sacks on the year dumbass, 11 to AU after the starting senior center was hurt, so that means the 26 came in the other 11 games. Thats like 2 to 3 sacks a game. Criminals make great ball players (i.e. FSU and Miami of the 90's) and Tebow will not start after 1 or 2 games, and he has yet to face an SEC D w/o the colored jersey

I am now back to a Pearl Jam fan, after two dissappointing albums, the new self titled is awesome. I suggest a purchase for all.

Heard when they were disputing with Sony they held out the good shit until this album, making two shitty cd's just to finish out their contract.

Daddy said...

Good to hear that about Pearl Jam. I was beginning to think they were going to be shitty forever.

Daddy said...

Tuberville disappointed in arrested players' actions
By Christa Turner, Staff Writer

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn University head football coach Tommy Tuberville expressed surprise at learning of the arrest of redshirt freshman linebacker Tray Blackmon on May 13 in LaGrange, Ga., his hometown.

LaGrange police charged Blackmon with underage drinking and pedestrian under the influence. According to the incident report, Blackmon was arrested after police observed him exiting from a wooded area and unable to walk steadily. Police alleged in the incident report that he was in a vehicle they followed after observing inconsistent behavior. The four people in the vehicle abandoned the car on the side of the road and ran into a nearby wooded area, the report said.

According to the incident report, Blackmon had a blood alcohol level of.16, which is twice the legal limit for anyone driving a vehicle.

Tuberville had not heard about the arrest and did not comment other than to say there would be some form of discipline for Blackmon. The charges are similar in nature to those sustained by senior linebacker Kevin Sears last fall. Sears drew a one-game suspension for the Georgia game after an arrest for driving under the influence and public intoxication.

A one-game suspension would damage the strides Blackmon made during the spring when he moved to first-team status at weakside linebacker following an injury to Merrill Johnson. A possible suspension would open the door even more for Johnson to regain the slim edge he had on the spot before his ankle injury.

When reached by phone, Blackmon had no comment about the incident, but said he expected some form of discipline after Auburn coaches learned of the arrest.

Dr.Feelgood said...

Sorry internet was down all afternoon at the office.

Good weekend to all

Peace Out

tigernation said...

Shakes, do you think you might want to play the Fri night before the Russreception?

Dad's buddy Ronnie has a birthday that fri the 7th and wanted to have us play at his home in Alpharetta. Huge house, probably a bunch of big money types, catered, free alcohol, maybe some cash I don't know. Should be a good crowd

Thought we could use it as a tune up for Jay's thing......let me know

Daddy said...

What did everyone think about the Sopranos last night?

King,
Nice to see you this weekend.

tigernation said...

I thought it was ok.

AJ's new girlfriend is HOT!!! I would marry her tomorrow, kid, accent and everything.

Is Chris gonna get killed?

Looked like the NY guys were pretty rude to Tony at the hospital. I hope Phil dies from the heart attack.

I wish Carmella would give up on the Adrianna search...that bitch is dead as hell.

Not a bad episode, just ready for the final 8.

Is it really a whole year until the final run?

Dr.Feelgood said...

Yeah I thought they should have saved some of last weeks episode to put into the final of the 12.

Although not too much really happened this season, they sorta left it confusing as to which way the final 8 will go. I am glad they didn't construct a real story line heading into the final 8

Daddy said...

I believe it is going to be this fall. I am not sure though.

Dr.Feelgood said...

This is for the Gator lovin Shakes:

Off of CFN.com :
Who’s this year’s Tennessee? You know, the highly ranked team that’s going to fall flat on its face? – CQ

A: One team stands out as having all the makings of being this year’s mega-flop … Florida. Expected by just about everyone to win the SEC, or at least the East, and being talked about as national title contenders, the Gators 1) don’t have a running game, 2) have a shaky, shaky, offensive line, 3) have a powder keg waiting to blow if star freshman quarterback Tim Tebow is merely competent and if Chris Leak struggles at all, and 4) has a schedule that would make most teams forget about playing the season altogether.

Remember, Tennessee really wasn’t that bad, and, of course, neither is Florida. Before the end of last year when the Volunteer snowball was unstoppable, Tennessee lost at Florida, to Georgia, at Alabama, in a nail-biter to South Carolina, and at Notre Dame. That’s not anything to cry about. Florida could be one of the ten best teams in America and still finish with five losses having to play at Tennessee, at Auburn, at Florida State, at home against Alabama, LSU and South Carolina, and in the World’s Largest Outdoor Gathering That Has Nothing To Do With Cocktails Or Alcohol In Any Form against Georgia.

Dr.Feelgood said...

Also on CFN the most consistently overrated teams

5. Arkansas -11.40
7. Auburn -11.19
16. LSU -6.74
17. Tennessee -6.67
19. Florida -6.08
22. Alabama -4.43
27. Georgia -3.29

Composite score represents the average annual number of spots a school's final ranking fell below its preseason ranking since 1971.

Dr.Feelgood said...
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
tigernation said...

I hope the AU team read the article about being overrated.

That is the kind of stuff we need to be showing them prior to the first game every year. We always do better when picked low.

This year's Tennessee = UGA or UF.

The schedule sets up for UF to get throttled once or twice....if they go unbeaten then they sould be given the NC before the bowl game....I mean, who has to play AU, LSU, and Bama from the west in one year?!?!?! That sucks!

UGA might just get a QB controversy after about game 2. If the "Book of Mark" is rotating QB's all year, he will lose 3 or more. Oh yeah, his offense will look EXACTLY like it did about 3 years ago...early in the David Greene years.....short timing routes with a 3 step drop to take the pressure off. He will not put his QB in a place where he will get hit.....which sucks because I want to see Stafford get his head knocked off.

Dr.Feelgood said...

Yeah Florida had a great recruiting season, but I doubt too many of them will make immediate impacts on a team that obviously had major holes last year. Not to mention the schedule.

Yeah that ranking sucks for SEC teams, obviously those 6 or 7 play each other every year so that is a guaranteed L for one team.

Said if you take out the Dubose Debacle Alabama would move to the underrated side of the stats

tigernation said...

That's like saying if you take out the Barfield years at AU, we hold the record over Bama. Can't take out portions of history......although I would love to for the sake of argument.

If you take away a few of my C's and D's I made at AU, I graduated with a 4.0!!!

Dr.Feelgood said...

Just copying what was written. I am sure if you could have removed the barfield years AU would have improved, but I doubt would have gone positive.

I am so sick of this Notre Dame shit, I think Dennis Dodd is blowing Quinn in the Irish locker room. His whole article is about Quinn narrowing his list to six agents. Who gives a fuck

Daddy said...

I wish ND would man up and join a conference, then alot of this hype would be eliminated.

tigernation said...

The entire northeast cares and that's about it. I can't stand the hype either. But not much we can do about it down here in the south.

Lets just hope they lose one of those first few games. Isn't it something like GT, Mich, Mich St, Penn St to start the season? That's pretty tough to start out. I'll be a Tech fan on the first game of the year for sure, because if they don't lose one of those first few, they pretty much have a run out until USC.

Daddy said...

Yeah, they will lose one of those.

Dr.Feelgood said...

I hope they go 7-4, even though they will probably still be ranked 10th

tigernation said...

they could lose the first 2 and still be about 9 or 10.

Dr.Feelgood said...

no doubt
