Wintry Ramblings Volume II

Jimmy Johnson wins the Daytona 500. 20 and 17 tangle on the track.

Tennessee reports secondary violations to the NCAA.

Bama knocks off UT in Bball. Will that be enough to keep Gotti from being replaced by Mike Davis?

Auburn comes close to beating LSU but just can't bust thru that invisible ceiling.

The blog is yours.

Posted this on the previous topic but it is so moving I thought I would repost it to make sure y'all got a chance to experience it.

Found this on the Bama board this morning. Pretty heart warming stuff........

Posted by My name is Earl on February 18, 2006 at 11:28:37:

Last night I took my 7 year old to Dillards to do a little spring shopping. While we were looking around he stops and yells " Hey Dad, look, can I have this? It's an Iron Bowl shirt."

I said no son, we lost that game. He said "But Dad we never beat Auburn!"

I stopped and thought for a minute and realized he was too young to remember us beating Auburn.

Basically, the last several years are his memories and he doesn't know what's it's like to win. How sad is that? I about cried!

So I got down on one knee, looked him in the eyes and said "Son, I promise you we will beat Auburn this year!" He got a big ole smile on his face and said "Do you mean that Dad?" And I said "Son, I promise!"

It was just one of those father, son moments that I will never forget! I hope I can keep my promise!

RTR

What he failed to tell is son is...."Son, and if we lose to Auburn, I will take out my gun and shoot you. Because that is what we Bama fans do when we lose."

Just thought you guys would like such a touching father-son moment.

Anybody remember "Tiny E". That's Tiny Elvis for those who don't watch the SNL reruns.

"Hey, look at that steering wheel! Man, that sucker is HUUUUUUGE!!!"

Not a very pretty day here either. Just got in some nice new couches though so I am pumped about the potential PROFIT!!!

Anybody hear about the 3rd UGA player arrested already this offseason? 2 for DUI and one underage drinking along with public intox.

The underage and public intox are easy to come by in Athens. The police on the street don't play over there. And I'm sure all of us have been "drunk in public" before.

I read where some dog fans were pissed at Richt and called him a hypocrite and all kinds of stuff. Hell, he could be Bobby Bowden and just let them start the 1st game against Miami after beating a woman, or whatever Ernie Sims and that other guy did last year.

The question is not "why are they drinking under age?" the question is "how do they keep getting caught".....conspiracy theory.

Poll:

Who will win the "Offseason Arrest" trophy in the SEC this year. Last year's champ was UT.

I will go with Arkansas.

How in the hell does Tony Stewart end up in the Top 5? He was running close to the back nearing the end of the race. He is unreal. I liked what I saw from little E, though. He looks like he might be getting back to his old self. Jeff Gordon (aka Justin Cheatwood) brought it pretty weak Sunday. Good to see him closer to the end of the pack.

ShakeYour$Maker said...

The offseason is still young. UT still has plenty of time to get double digit numbers in the arrest count.

I will say 1) UT 2) BAMA 3)UGA 4)Ole Miss 5)Auburn

You would think that UT would be the leader with the off field discipline. They were orange everyday of the week. At work, gameday, and community service.

You forgot hunting. I guess that applies more to the fans though.

Dr.- Was there not a Bama LB that got a DUI a few days ago?

I will check and get his name to let you know who it was. I think it was like a backup LB that got a DUI at 8 o`clock in the morning.

ShakeYour$Maker said...

Travis Sikes was the kid`s name. Do you have any info on that?

ShakeYour$Maker said...

Just remember Doctor....that was you a few years back. I think you listened to your dose of crappy music. One I remember listening to in your mom`s van was......."Shine, make `em wonder what you got...make `em wish that they were not....on the outside looking in. Shine, let them shine before all men, let them see good works and then...they can glorify the lord."

ShakeYour$Maker said...

It was either Debbie Gibson, Paula Abdul, or Garth Brooks ("Ropin` The Wind"...which happened to be my first CD...and I listened to that thing so many times...not crappy though). Most of the time, we had to listen to what SHea wanted to because it saved the family from a HUGE FIGHT. She got her way most of the time.

Dr.-Nothing was cooler than your Wayne`s WOrld soundtracks, and your 4NONBlondes CD.

ShakeYour$Maker said...

Or your SpinDoctors CD.

ShakeYour$Maker said...

Shai was the shit man. I don`t care what you say about me for liking them. They were BoysIIMen style..but not as good.

ShakeYour$Maker said...

Hell No I didn`t own that CD. Waynes World Soundtracks were salvaged because of the Hendrix and Queen.....Didn`t it also have some Alice Cooper on there. Some "Feed my Frankenstien."

You did have a Milli Vanilli tape. "Ba ba ba baa. Ba ba ba baa----BABY! Don`t forget my number."

ShakeYour$Maker said...

You also were a big "Flying Young Canibals" fan.

ShakeYour$Maker said...

"She drives me crazy...(ohh..ohh) Like No one else...(ohh..ohh) She drives me crazy...and I can`t help myself."

ShakeYour$Maker said...

Didn`t you have a Mickey Mouse CLub soundtrack too. It had the theme song...and then it had all the songs they performed on the show.

ShakeYour$Maker said...

Idid not have Babar sing-a-longs. You are thinking about your CD...Nickelodeon`s The Elephant SHow, Sharon, Loise, and Bram sing-a-longs.

"One elephant went out to play..upon a spider`s web one day. He had such enormous fun that he called for another elephant to come."

tigernation said...

Were y'all too young for "Today's Special" on Nickelodeon?

It was in a department store and a manequin would sing "Hocus, Pocus, alamagocus" and come alive.

Guess that is old people stuff.

ShakeYour$Maker said...

Today`s Special was prolly my favorite show. Jeff was the maneqin.

tigernation said...

It was the "Hocus Pocus" saying after closing time that made him come to life.

I still watch "Guts" and "Legends of the Hidden Temple". Comes on sometimes.

Looks like UGA is in the lead for off-season arrests. Add another to the list......

ATHENS – Georgia defensive lineman Marquis Elmore, a rising senior from Folkston, was arrested Sunday on charges of driving with a suspended license.

Coach Mark Richt is aware of the incident and is gathering information, according to Claude Felton, Georgia’s associate athletic director for communications. No punishment has been announced.
Elmore was booked into the Athens Clarke County jail Sunday evening and then released on $1,500 bond. He is the fourth Bulldog known to have been arrested since November, joining Antonio Sims, Dannell Ellerbe and Ian Smith. The previous three arrests all came from alcohol-related incidents.

Marquis Elmore enrolled at Georgia in 2002 with a tremendous amount of hype but has totaled just five tackles in his first three seasons. He was not credited with a tackle in 2005.

Will Herring moved to Linebacker.

I like the move as long as it doesn't keep my boy Blackmon off the field.

I think Herring will be able to cover backs better than Sears and he isn't too bad at stopping the run. He does tend to miss tackles in space though.

We shall see.

ShakeYour$Maker said...

I think it is a good move considering his lack of speed (LSU is always his weakest performance, in which he gets burned for the big one at least once every year) and inability to tackle (he loves to use the El Madador "OLE`" tackling style...example: Kentucky game) in the open field. Being right in the middle of the action might be better for him and help him tackle.

We need more speed in the defensive backfield to cut down on the number of big plays we give up. I like it, but I wonder if he will even be a main contributor at LB, considering the returning LB`s..and also the new guys (Blackmon and Co.).

tigernation said...

Speed in the d-backfield........ex: Tristan MF Davis, Gandy, Bell.....I hope I never see Eric Brock on the field again. He is an AWFUL tackler (see Wisco, Kent, Ball St) and he never hits anybody, much less break up a pass.

As long as Herring's move doesn't affect Blackmon I am happy with it. The other backers are good I guess but his experience will be a major help. M.Johnson and Harden got burned a LOT against Wisco so they might need a little more time.

Interested to see Muschamp's influence on the defense. From everything I have seen he keeps mentioning "toughness" on D.

On my TV I can get 10 minute highlight clips of all of our games and we were not very tough at all. No plays on the ball in the secondary and the linebackers got pushed around.

yeah, I'm sure Will likes pulling tities just like the rest of us. But i don't think it is appropriate on the football field.

He personally gave up 7 points to KENTUCKY on a `Ole tackle last year.

ShakeYour$Maker said...

I think we will be "Tougher" next year on D. There is no way we can`t be.

daddy - you gonna sit down in front of the tv and paint your nails and eat bon bons while you watch?

Maybe you can text with shakes about how cute Paula's outfit is!

I will be watching I'm sure.

Just had to go pick an old man up off the ground outside the store. It is raining pretty hard and his wife was standing at the door waiting on him when he fell. I saw it and had to run outside and pick him up. He was SOAKING WET!!

I felt so bad for the guy. It has got to be hard getting old and having to ask for help.
