Hawks Getting Physical

The Atlanta Hawks are not getting any older. With the youngest average age in the NBA, Atlanta selected Sheldon Williams of Duke and Soloman Jones of South Florida. Two senior picks are a departure from the norm for Atlanta. Sheldon and Soloman should provide a physical inside presence, defense and rebounding for the Hawks. At first glance it looks like a good compliment to the skill and athleticism of Joe Johnson, Marvin Williams and the other young Hawks. Now, lets see if they can put it together.

The Grizzlies go Gay.

Who really cares about the NBA Draft anyways.

It was an afterthought as I was exploring my new DirecTV. Satellite is pretty cool so far.

Will Hoover center Pugh decide the Auburn Tigers this morning? It is shaping up to be a decent start for recruiting.

Georgia, best backfield in the country? Seriously, I beg to differ. I would not even say they have the best backfield in the SEC. That is Auburn, Alabama or LSU.

Most talent in the SEC? Florida or LSU followed by Auburn or Georgia? Where does Bama and Tennessee fit in?

Dr., Bama update and Grizz draft analysis? I saw that a few of your Memphis Blue Tigers went high last night.

Diddy, any more interviews?

Ladies, have a nice day. The stunning pics will return once I have internet back at #10. Later on.

Return of the King

Arriving late Friday night, the King has returned from Dallas. It was the flight from hell including circling over LaGrange and touch and goes in Atlanta. The most incredible week of my young professional life. We were treated like kings at the 4 Star Hilton Park Cities in Dallas where the Bama/Sigma Chi alumni CEO/Founder and EVP/"Pledge Trainer Judson" park there Aston Martin and Benz S55 backed in the driveway while everyone else must be valeted. The burger in the hotel bar is called the "World Wide Express Burger". Imagine 75 people between one month and three years out of college in a ballroom from 8:30am til 9pm learning the shipping business from my new mentor, Joe Judson. If the CEO is at training for several hours a day it must speak to how important the training classes are to DHL's largest sales partner in North America(in 15 month's we will be DHL's largest partner in the world.) Being wound up tight all week, Thursday night was a interesting night on the town in Dallas. I didn't make it the final 3 to compete for the Mont Blanc and cash so I will have to settle for Top 8 until I return to Dallas for another week in 3 months and a week in Miami for Conference in October. I guess Top 10% isn't to bad. I have some really, really interesting stories that cannot be published for the world to see. I turned into the ring leader Thursday getting everyone on 6 cabs to go to a place called Tribeca in uptown Dallas. It helps to grease the concierge's palm. I will be out on my own in the field this week so the hustle is oooooon!!

Congratulations to Daddy for passing his engineering test and the successful interview. That test is an absolute killer.

$hakes, I love the bar idea. I hope you are ready for some late nights. Might want to get EY a cot in the back and designate yourself the house band! You can be the Piano Man of Auburn. Your idol, Elton John, is suing Atlanta over property taxes due to "overvaluing his condo".

Nation, Braves game in the next week or two? I have some goodies that I need your help in using up. I have not smoked in almost two weeks. Who would have ever thought I would do that?

Dr., I am going to try and get a decent myspace page up. Any ideas? I am thinking about trying to publisize the blog from it.

$hakes, I mean Jeff Gordon won the road race. Rainbow Queer rides again.

Junior gets the rights to the name. Great business move.

Braves snap a 10 game losing streak but are sinking fast.

English and German fans riot at World Cup. Beck saves the day with his specialty free kick.

I got a couch, desk and leather office chair for the house Saturday so we are fully furnished. Now it is time to pick some accent wall colors. Any ideas? My office will be the Auburn room so I am thinking blue or a dusty orange. Chocolate for the living room to go with the dark wood, Loosier Leather Recliner and loden green couch. Maybe a rust or steel blue for the bedroom?

My father called Thursday morning to wish me Happy Birthday as I was getting on the elevator. You gotta laugh because it is not til September 19th.

I almost bought a Smith & Wesson 9mm today but I need to get a new license with my correct address first. I have been wanting to get a pistol for a while and finally found one I like. The range is a fun place to go and girls love it. Nice complement to the 12 guage Remington and Israeli AK-74. World War III will end at 371 E. Paces Ferry Rd. #10.

July 4th plans?

Have a great week and I hope to see ya'll soon!

Winter Finale

June has rolled in and so did the finals in hockey and basketball. Carolina Hurricanes are the Stanley Cup Champs. Champs and the Miami Heat won the NBA Finals. D-Wane Wade is incredible. Impressive to come from 2 games down and four straight to win the title. Winning is the only thing that justifies Riley taking over the team from Van Gundy. T?

"It feel real good." - Gary Payton

Way to go Kobe. Run off Shaq. Do you ever think you will win another championship?

Now that the winter sports have come and gone, the only thing left to do is countdown to football season. I watched the game in the hotel bar. Yes, the hometown Mav fans were hurting but I did have a nice conversation with a Texas A&M alumni. When I told him I was from Atlanta he replied that I probably don't care at all. I told him he was right. Apparently Franchione must win 10 games to get a new contract. They should be good though. The only team that game Texas a scare before the thriller

Dr., the Alabama CEO & Founder drives an Aston Martin and is boys with Mark Cuban. Not bad for an English major in Tuscaloosa.

One thing, absolutely no diversity. All caucasion and good looking...like myself. Alisha is a good example.

Smoltz offers to be traded for the betterment of the Braves. What the hell?

I take personal responsibility for the lack of action on the blog as I have not provided any good topics lately.

Daddy, interview? go well?

Alisha, please grab these gentlemen's attention.

Ladies, have a good day and enjoy.

Weekend Wrapup

Miami leads the NBA Finals 3-2. I watched the game in the hotel bar in Dallas with most of our training class. 60 folks who have the same attitude as myself is interesting. Kinda hope Dallas wins so we can have a good party later in the week. I saw Texas Stadium on the way from the airport. Huuuuuuuuuuge.

KK takes another one. That is 4 in 2006. $hakes, you can have JJ. I'll take Kenseth, Junior and Kahne. 2,3 & 4 in the standings.

Braves suck.

Ladies, have a good week. This might be the only post.

Futbol Americano and other musings

Mexico wins. Argentina wins. USA vs. Czech. on Monday. What are the forum's thoughts on the World Cup? Is it a novelty like the Olympics? Worth tuning in every four years?

Hamlin wins Pocono 500. I hate JJ & both Bush's. We need to see some more fighting from the wives and girlfriends. Shay agrees.

Anyone have any good stories?

Its in the works. Taber bachelor party appears to be relocated to Atlanta if anyone would like to partake and see the mighty Cheetah.

Quick question that we can see answered in about 85 some odd days. What will be the first offensive play of the season for Auburn, Alabama, Georgia and Florida?

AU: Irons zone left befind King.
Bama: Power up the midde over center with Darby.
Georgia: Lumpkin power right.
Florida: Shotgun spread quick screen to Caldwell.

Open Monday. Please take it away.

Back in the Saddle

Welcome back to the real world, Wilber. My 5 week hiatus/vacation is over as I started work today and move into my new place (directly across from Bumper and Burton on E. Paces Ferry) on Wednesday. Amazing what a job change does for the soul. I think I am going to keep the tan though as I am hanging out by the pool Trap style and reading. Way to much fun in Auburn last weekend. I wore by bathing suit for 10 straight days from Lake Chatuge to Gulf Shores to Lake Harding. Yes, I did wash it though, Nation, before you ask!

Daddy, one the best AU setups ever. I loved it. Pools, grills, umbrellas, dogs, cabin/lodge/house.....heaven in Auburn. Like the Wild Kingdom. Nice to see Branch, $hakes, EY and Daddy as well. Lots has changed but the more they do change the more some things stay the same.

By the way, who did the Trap Target aquired email?

Thank you for welcoming in June so nicely, Jess. Yeah, I agree, Nick is pathetic.

Nation, Ol Clayton said the deal w/ M&B did not finally go down til 2006. Nice to see Lil' Nation at the Bodega. Very funny conversation after a few scotch and waters.

Kenseth and Dewalt take Dover. My buddy Trey who drives the big yella truck is happy.

Are the Braves slipping into the abyss? Cox says this is the worst series in Atlanta ever after being blown out and swept by the Diamondbacks.

Little Ball of Hate gets into some trouble. Might not go home for a while but we may never know what the punishment is since he might not miss the first game.

UGA and UF's seasons could go either way. 1-4 losses each. South Carolina might put it on both of them.

King Wilbero's new product.

Would the Bo Tucker All Star Revival be interested in playing the Trey Fricke/Vansickle wedding next April in ATL?

Any ideas for a Daily Football Fix website? Would Romaro be interested in writing an SEC column? I am going to try and get PJ to do one for the ACC.

Apologies for the neglect, I hope all is well with everyone.

Gentlemen, the blog is yours, please take it away and have a great rest of the week.

Summer is here

3 months til football. Mark Howard of the AJC is already predicting a ho hum Georgia season made by a victory over Auburn.

Barbaro's leg after surgery. Kinda looks like Wilber's knees.

I hope all had a nice Memorial weekend. Lake Chatuge was a nice place. Water was clean. The boat stopped working. Got towed back in my a good ol boy wearing a Kasey Kahne hat.

Kasey Kahne wins the 600. Roaring Wilberos edging out $hakes for Fantasy NASCAR supremecy.

Nice finish in the Indy 500.

Braves sweep Cubs.

Thanks for joining, Nikki.

Ladies, have a good week. I am off to Gulf Shores with Mom and the sister before starting back to work hustling DHL.

World Record Hammerhead

A new world record hammerhead shark was caught in Boca Grande Pass off Port Charlotte in the southern Gulf of Mexico Wednesday. The

14.5 foot 1262 lb. shark dragged the 23 ft. boat 12 miles offshore during the 6 hour struggle. It was caught with live stingray.

What the hell? This new "blow out" rule by the Connecticut high school association infuriates me. Newly adopted, if a team beat another by more the 50 points then the winning coach is suspended the next game. Bob Jones football coach Frank T. Sadler used to say that if you don't want us to blow you out then don't let us score. It is your own fault if you get blown out. I see this as the dumbing down of competitive athletics and a form of game fixing. Have they not sent people to prison for fixing games? Any thoughts, gentlemen?

I do love Elisha.

Brawl Ball

Anyone see the Cubs/Sox brawl? Unreal.

One of Alisha's favorite sports is boxing, by the way.

Jimmy is unbeatable at Charlotte. I am tempted to run him next week as the Roaring Wilberos lead fantasy NASCAR at the break.

Good luck on the INT, Daddy. How was the BBQ last week, Dr.? $hakes, where are you moving? The house or the condo? Nation, can you get those Bravos tickets sometime? Maybe $ and D might even come up.

I hope all are well. I have moved all my worldly belongings to a storage unit and my Explorer. Not feeling easy about things being in the middle of Buckhead. It is amazing how much you can throw away when you don't want to have to move it again. 2 month rule. I write to you homeless from Burton's couch until my apartment is ready next month. Auburn later this week and then the beach next week should do me right. I highly suggest a vacation to all. One might call it a hiatus. Nevertheless, the Europeans do it but then again they are nowhere near as productive as the USA.

The Big Cups are making a comeback in fantasy baseball. It is amazing how well you can do when you actually keep up. Go figure.

Please excuse the lack of new posts the next two weeks as I will be in and out. I will do my best. Ya'll have some fun!

Legends Tour

Two college football greats will be inducted in the Hall of Fame. Bowden and Paterno deserve to go in together.

Smart money says Lebron will join them in his respective hall later on. The Cavs are up on the Pistons 3-2. If they win out, who stops them? The Heat, Spurs or Mavs? Does the winner of the Clips/Suns series have a chance against the winner of the Texas series?

Can Lebron take them all the way?

War Eagles at halftime of NBA basketball. Barkley -"Where is he from? Where is he from? Auburn!" speaking of a dunking Marques Daniels.

Alabama produced Latrell Sprewell. Enough said

I give 3 to 1 odds that Auburn beats Bama in Tuscaloosa. I'm just gonna go ahead and say it. 3-1 Spurrier puts up 400 yards of passing against Georgia's young secondary in Columbia. 3-1 Mitch Mustain will be a starter before Tebow and I would not be surprised to see Smiley on the field at USC. The Ol' Ball Coach loves a QB controversy.

I am scared the press will be enamored by a Notre Dame/Ohio State rematch NC game. That is ok as long as they are the only undefeateds. Will the new system ensure that?

Shula has not done it for 3 years so it seams fair at 3 instead of 4 in a row. Forgive me if I am wrong but Cadillac was 3-o in games he played against Bama since I believe he broke his foot after Tubs ran him 40 times at Georgia in 2001 and missed the 31-7 blowout and meteor shower the next week.

Midweek Update

I hope all is well with everyone. Newports are downright nasty. Why would you want to smoke fiberglass when you can smoke the good green cigs? It was nice to be home in Alabama this past weekend. Yes, my home is in Alabama.

The Braves are starting to show a little bit of life. Keep winning series and they might have a chance in August. The Phillies might be the team to beat in the East instead of the Mets. Almost a given the Wild Card will come from the East right now. Yes, my fantasy team has gone down the toilet already. At least there is fantasy NASCAR.......

..........Greg Biffle won Saturday night in Darlington. That was good to see and a long time coming. Smoke, Biffle & Junior are my favorite drivers......anyone else?

"The aim of life is self development. To realize one's nature perfectly-that is what each of us is here for." - Oscar Wilde......Oscar's favorite drink-----Absinthe in an old ad. I have done some good reading on while on vacation.

Alabama baseball one of the tops in SEC and Auburn is one of the worst. Best facilities in the nation and a new Healthsouth next door can't get some talent? First losing season in a while hurts. Baseball and Mens B-Ball at the 'burn need to pick it up. Sad state of affairs. There is always swimming if the girls would swim in string bikinis..

Gotta love Elisa. She would swim and dive in a string. She said she would do it naked for DFF.

Anywhere from #3 to #8 is what we are starting to hear about the preseason ranking of the Auburn Tigers. I am hoping closer to #8 than #3. I am scared Cox might not make it through the season. He did last year but he is one shot away from not broken bones; but crushed bones.

I'm going to go ahead and say JPW will be better than expected and might be in the top third of the SEC QB's by the end of next year. He just needs time to throw. Tebow might get a shot in many first halfs this fall. How much difference will Nikita Stover make for JPW in T-town? Tons. He might be the shot in the arm Bama's O needs.

SEC West starters are looking like Jamarcusrussellbum, Henig at State, Shafing from grades at Ole Missy, who knows for Nutt, Cox for Tubs, and Johnny Walker Wilson for the Tide.

How much will Tim Hawthorne contribute as a freshman? I think LB Craig Stevens might be one of the better signings in Auburn's class when it is said and done. Imagine a backfield of Lester, Fannin and Tate year after next.

Good day, ladies and gentlemen.

Happy Mothers Day

Tubs highest paid SEC coach at $2.6 million and the next closest is Fulmer at $2.05 and Urban at $2. Not a bad way to make a living.

New playmate of the year, Kimberly is a big KI fan. He likes blondes as well.

Dale does it

Junior snaps his drought at Richmond on the short track. Good win for him. Braves are spiraling. This could be the year. Shula gets a new contract. Open Monday. Good week.

A new month of May and a Junior W call for a return of Jessica.

Draft Day

Bush #2, Leinart #10. What has happened to USC? Where there is smoke, there is fire. The NCAA, Pac 10 and USC are investigating the Leinart/Jarrett living situation with Bob Leinart footing 2/3rds of the $3800 plus rent as Matt and Dwayne split $1300. The cost of living in LA is incredible. Leinart's fall to Arizona might prove to be a blessing for him. Nice weather, lots of weapons and a straight shot to Vegas.

Bush's parents seem to have gotten him into some hot water. He could have been the #1 pick if he had agreed to an 8% increase over Alex Smith's deal the year before. Now New Orleans will have the best backfield tandem in football. Character issues plagued Justice and Lendale.

How involved is Pete Carroll in the alleged violations?

How far the once mighty Trojans have fallen.

Miami, Florida State and Ohio State all put quality defensive players into the league again.

Texans go D with Freak Mario and Demeco. I like New England's picks of Lawrence Maroney and Chad Jackson.

PJ had a big day as he was drafted by the Ravens in the 4th round.

Brodie to the Chiefs. Devin to the Dolphins and Predator to the Panthers.

Good SEC draft with Bama also drafting Anderson, Peprah, Harper, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina all had several prospects go as well.

T?

Braves almost get swepted. Maybe Sunday was a breakout game.

Talladega rained out. Bummer. I hate Monday races but I would love to call in sick just to watch.

Big Business of College Athletics

Apologies, as the internet has been out at the Wilber household since Sunday. I don't even think I got my Fantasy NASCAR picks in. Lots to catch up with. I trust all is well in the congregation. We are almost to the weekend. So close. So close.

I found a great article on Tigerland/al.com. The Indy paper found the financials for college football. Auburn has the highest paid coaching staff followed by Texas, Tennessee, Texas A&M & LSU. Bama is 21st. Check it out.

Georgia has the best margins making over $23 million from the football program. Interesting revenue and cost figures. T?

Thoughts and suggestions about paying collegiate players with a portion of the massive revenue. Reggie Bush posed pay for production before saying a flat rate for everyone might be best(ESPN.com frontpage).

Kris cheated. Now will she sleep with the team? She lives about 10 minutes away in a mansion.

Police blotter: Former DFF starlet and $hakes Birthday girl Mae Anderson arrested and shipped back to the Netherlands for not being able to handle her liquor on an international flight. [DFF 4.6.6 post]

Gentlemen, a good day to ya.

Greatest that we have ever seen........

Interesting tidbits are scattered all over cyberworld. Little facts that reveal the truth of history. One truth is that SEC fans are the best in the land. 7 of the top 16 team leaders in attendace were from the SEC. Anyone else have anything close? I wonder who they are? Why don't you tell us about that great SEC attendance, Anna?

2 Tennessee
5 Georgia
6 LSU
8 Florida
10 Auburn
14 Alabama
16 South Carolina

The polls from 1869 to 1935 the polls are retroactive in picking National Champions. The AP reigned from 1936-1949 and since 1950 everybody and their mother have been picking NC's. Only 3 Bama NC's are consensus?

There have been several "Greatest Team Ever" to play through the years. Can you actually compare the Nebraska and Oklahoma's of the 70's against the FSU's of the 90's or even the Notre Dame's of the 1940's. Has technology, coaching and conditioning really changed that much? 2 out of 3 maybe.

The technological advancement of healthcare has vastly improved recovery time and effectiveness. My first ACL scar is almost two inches long on my right knee and the scar from the second surgery 3 years later is less than an inch. Conditioning has increased the speed of the game every year. I believe the greatest coaches back then could have been successful today because the best ones always adapt.

Well since I made you read that, who is the best ever? I will leave that completely open but I'll tell who the best in my lifetime is. *they must be undefeated*

Best Teams in the SEC from 1980 til now..........Georgia 80, Alabama 92, Auburn 2004

Imagine the swarming Crimson D of 92 againts the monster Auburn offense of 2004. Auburn would have won since the Tiger D would have shut down Barker, Lassic & Co. Chizek & Borges made all the difference in the world. Imagine Bama or AU's defense against Herchel & Buck.

2004 Tigers 23
1992 Cheatin' Tide 13

1980 Dawgs 20
1992 Cheatin' Tide 24

2004 Tigers 34
1980 Dawgs 13 (Jr would do it again)

Greatest teams of all include the above plus Florida State of 1999, Nebraska of 94-95, and Miami of 2001. Nebraska was the most physically imposing team I have ever seen and Peter Warrick was unreal in 1999.

Case of the Mondays........Moving on now

Thank heavens the worst day of the week is over. It is all smooth sailing from here on out. The first AC I felt all day was when I got home at 6p. Sweltering office. Got turquoise paint all over me. I hate Mondays. This picture kinda sums up my day. Enough of that. Speaking of sailing, wouldn't the Caribean be nice right now? Frozen drinks and senoritas.

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway has agreed in principle to purchase clothing manufacturer Russell Corp. for about $600 million. The offer is $18 a share, a 35% premium over the Russell closing price of $13.30. Cheers to an Alabama company for their success. Congratulations to the family as well. Outfitted Auburn, Alabama, and MLB for years. Russell Land, Russell Marine, and owning Lake Martin. We all know people who work for Russell. I wonder if Russell Land was included and if Rooney's new boss is Warren? Not bad. Berkshire Hathaway A class shares closed at $83,600 and B class shares closed at $2,868 Monday.

Any thoughts?

Two Duke indictments. 1oo% sure of two people and 90% sure of the 3rd. It will be a spectacle. Somewhere Johnny Cochran is smiling.

POW....The Cowgirls of FSU....close enough......and a reminder of a great season to come. What are the odds of an SEC National Champ? 6:1? ACC...8:1? Who knows?

Braves lose a close one Pedro and the Mets. Two more games with Davies vs. Zambrano and Hudson vs. Glavine facing off. Do the Braves have enough to keep up with the Mets this year? Will the Mets crash and burn? Any thoughts?

The legend and legacy of BTB only grows.

By the way, wonder how 'ol Tucker is doing through the craziness? Beau seems to be living in the lap of luxory.

Ladies and gentlemen, have a good Tuesday.

Midweek Update

Interesting week so far.

Logan Young found dead. Grusome. Interesting to see what comes out of Memphis. I wonder if Bama is left in his will and they don't know about it? Covering up for Paul Jr.? What is there left to cover up if there is a cover up? Better news of Memphrica, Calipari is staying...for now.

Nation, please enjoy your first Pornstar O' the week in Brianna Banks.

Open Wednesday, may the conversation lead where it may.

Weekend Wrapup

I hope all had a pleasant weekend and avoided the storms.

Kasey Kahne wins in Texas. The Roaring Wilberos have taken a slim lead over Team Bear and $hakes in Fantasy NASCAR.

Phil won the Masters...again. Who ever thought you could have said that. Congratulations to him on another green jacket. A southern tradition.

Braves lost more games and lost Chipper. Not much pitching when Hudson is giving up 6 and must be kept in the game to get to the bullpen.

Montgomery Advertiser article put several state sports journalists to task about the 2006 outlook of the Tide and Tigers. "Chance to be special" and "SEC West Favorites" were used to describe Auburn chances if the recievers and line replaced key losses. How will the Auburn D react to a new DC is exactly the same as how good will JPW be for the Tide? Probably good. More offensive production for the Tide but holes on D. But will the Tide really go 8-4 as the panel of Finebaum, Ingram, Jackson and co. see happening?

May I ask please that if Alabama is graduating a 2nd round draft choice at quarterback then what is the real offensive problem?

The blog is an open slate. Have at it.

Weekend Warriors

Ahh. Summer is near. Baseball has started. We are in the middle of the Masters. Racing is in full swing. Vijay has the lead, but will he keep it thru til Sunday? Tigger is 5 back. Who wins in Texas?

May wishes Happy Birthday to $hakes. Enjoy the beach.

Q: Since we have been talking about the SECCG this week. Who wins the SEC Championship Game in 2006 and how?

KT: A: AUBURN TIGERS over Florida Gators in a rematch of a slim Tiger win!!!

I have selected my drivers for this weekend. anyone else?

Braves at .500 after 4 games and taking a 3 game set in LA.
